How Robert Hanley Got Started in the Video Production Business

On Location in the Mohave Desert - 1986
I got into the video business because I loved (and still do) video, movies, computers, cameras, tech, film and controlling my own destiny. When I started in 1979, I knew little. The next twelve years were an incredible learning experience.  I did every type of film and video project you can imagine. I became an excellent Producer, Director and Editor. I also went broke twice! I had learned my craft inside and out but had not yet learned how to make money with video.

I got a lucky break in the summer of 1991 and began making tons of money! Within a year I was flying high financially. I spent the early 90’s perfecting Home Video Studio and began sharing my knowledge with others in 1999. I am very careful of with whom I share this knowledge and how I share it. Most of you know that we charge $51,900.00 for our system. After that you need about $15,000.00 to $19,000.00 in equipment.

At the "Hanley Awards" 2003
Starting any business on your own is treacherous. Start on your own and there is a 95% chance you will fail within one to two years. You just don’t know enough and there is no way to learn what you need to know quickly enough. The 5% who succeed, do so with heavy causalities. I understand this. Been there, done that.

When you start with a plan and a mentor, you have a shortcut to success. We have a complete plan for you. You can start today if you wish.  It will be the best decision you ever made.

Within a year I was flying high financially!

I easily made over $40,000.00 in January and February – albeit the slowest months of the year in my Home Video Studio. That’s over twenty grand a month – most of it pure profit. I did it with one hand tied behind my back. It was easy. You should expect me to be great at what I do and I am. I can teach you to run a great studio from your home and make a great living. HVS is a shortcut to success but it doesn’t work if you don’t start. You’ve got to start.

Studio Owner Andy Conte Started in 2001!

Are You At A Crossroads? Start a Video Production Company - Home Video Studio!

Most of us, at least once in our life, will face the prospect of having to reinvent ourselves. Perhaps we lose a job, lose a loved one, get a divorce, fail at business, fall flat on our face, or just become burned out. We all find a way to get through these times and then when we do, we start to recover and then we say what now? What’s next?

You are at a crossroads…

Sometimes we find ourselves at a crossroads with little or no traumatic preamble. Life kind of brings us to a point where we just realize that a new direction is needed. This one is usually a slow, gradual build up. One day we just kind of wake up and realize that we need to do something different. Our lives need a new challenge.

“When God Closes a Door, He Opens a Window.” Ever hear that? It is one of my favorite sayings. What this means to me is that no matter what happens to you, there is always opportunity – a new adventure waiting for you – a new opportunity… if you can grasp it. Many times we realize that the new thing has been with us for some time. We have just been woken up! And now we see more clearly.

Maybe you are in this situation right now. I hear this a lot: “I have been following HVS for years…” “Saw you in Videomaker years ago and this week!”

Something has awakened you...

Should you go for it? Just do it! Like now? Take on a new adventure? If you ask me, the answer is “heck yes.” Of course you should. Life is meant for living. Plus, opportunities have a way of vanishing and being snapped up by others. Remember there are only so many Home Video Studio territories. What’s your market like? Secure it now.

Everyone has a special talent. Some people have more than one. One of my special talents is helping people who are at a crossroads make a change. I am very good at what I do. Very good! I can help you.

Today I have two small pieces of advice that if taken will reap huge rewards for you.

One. If you have been thinking about starting a Home Video Studio call me. Talk to me. I can help you. I’ll take the mystery out of things. Why not find out if you can do it? Find out if you can qualify and of course find out more about what it takes to get started. We want and need great new owners. Plus you’ve love the Home Video Studio Family.

Two. Take action. Don’t be afraid to take action. There is something so American about starting out on a new venture. Think of me as your guide and your mentor. I will help you. I will comfort you and I will guide you into Home Video Studio Ownership and then onto success.

Okay… ball’s in your court. Here’s what we have coming up.

We’ve got Advanced Training starting on Monday, February 29th. We’ll start with an Oscars Party on Sunday evening February 28th.  Advanced Training is our mini-college of HVS. It is a great way to jump-start your new studio. Studio Owner Sharon Galluzzo will be kicking off things on Monday morning. Sharon and her husband Peter did over $300,000.00 last year so she will share a bunch of nuggets with you.  I will be training in the afternoon on what I call the HVS Universe and the DVA Universe. I will be laying out a guide to you so you can get great results in your studio as well. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday has something for everyone. Tuesday is all tech. Core classes for newbies and Advanced classes for veterans including our Pizza and a Movie Nite.  We have a bunch of great classes on Wednesday and Thursday including an animation class and our Celebration Dinner on Thursday evening. Studio Owner Chris Moen will be our keynote speaker that night. Friday – Special Guest Trainer Larry Jordan and Super Star Studio Owner Chad Godfrey will train. We’re bringing Larry in from L.A. Larry does Photoshop and Premiere Pro that day and Chad does $$$$$ (marketing, building the business, making money, etc).  You can fly home Friday night or stick around for Saturday morning wrap-up classes. Attending this training will put you light years ahead!

There is still time… for you to call me, go through our application program and get started with HVS and train as an owner at this event. Over the last fifteen years, I have had quite a few new owners who were kind of tracking HVS in the background and then called, joined and attended this event, Advanced Training (our mini-college of HVS) was their first training. Beautiful.

BASIC TRAINING NOTE: This Year we are doing Double Dates and featuring a BASIC training for new owners who are in Indy for Advanced Training and want to stay the following week and get their BASIC training in. You save on airfare and get a really quick start! CALL ME ASAP IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS OPTION.

Oh… if you would like a copy of our schedule for Advanced Training let me know.

We also have our Show ‘N Tell At Advanced Training coming up on Friday, March 4 and Saturday March 5. This is a great Show ‘N Tell to come to since you will meet so many owners. Also (as mentioned above) Larry Jordan will be training for us on Friday, March 4 and SNT Attendees are welcome to audit this training. You’ll be hanging out with studio owners from all over the United States and learning from Larry Jordan.  Note: We have one more spot open for the March 5th date!

Here’s what we cover at Show ‘N Tell Saturday.

Who Starts a Video Production Business? Who Starts a Home Video Studio?

Arthur Bradshaw worked for Corporate America.
You just might be interested in the answer to that question. I know I am now and I was many, many years ago when we started selling studios. Who are these people? What are our Studio Owners like? Are they single? Married? Divorced? Do they have families, kids, or pets? Did they mortgage the house to get started or convert a 401k?

What's their story? What were their former careers? Are they just video geeks? Are Are they sales people? Who are they and who are you? Are you like them? Let’s take a look at who buys a Home Video Studio.

They come from all backgrounds: doctors, nurses, accountants, IT people, engineers, computer people, software designers, sales and marketing, insurance agents, stock brokers, chefs, police officers, telecommunications people, video producers, screenwriters, graphic artists, animators, audio engineers, consultants, managers, store clerks, etc. The list goes on and on.

Some are married. Some are not. Some do the business on their own. Some have a spouse as a partner in the business. Some are men. Some are women.

We have sold to those in their 20’s and those in their 70’s. Age is a state of mind.

Miguel Salas was a chef.
What do they all have in common?

1.     The ability to see themselves doing something different from what they were doing.
2.     A strong desire to create something on their own.
3.     They wanted to do something creative (related to #2).
4.     Pretty much they are all humble people.
5.     Willing to help each other.
6.     Wanted to be part of something and yet on their own – The HVS Family.
7.     They weren’t in to marketing or sales.
8.     They valued controlling their life and lifestyle.
9.     They had the ability to take a risk and start.
10. They wanted a new chapter – a new journey for their life.

The joy is in the journey, right? We are all on a journey. Some seem to move quicker than others. Some of us seem to get stuck from time to time. Some of us get stuck for 20 or 30 years or more and then one day, out of the blue we (they) decide to get unstuck.

Dan Weinger had a seat on the stock exchange.
How do they do it? How do they break those chains that seem to hold others firmly to their cubicle chairs? Truth is, sometimes they are just laid off and the choice is made for them. Other times they make the choice.

How do you get unstuck? Call me and we’ll discuss your journey to HVS – how you go from where you are now to where you want to be. And yes, you can use your 401k to fund your own Home Video Studio I can help you with that.

You can call me directly on my cell phone at 1-866-714-1956 or 1-317-358-5932. You can email me at robert@homevideostudio.com. Call me today! Let’s talk.

What's Your Next Career Move? Start A Video Production Company!

What's Your Next Career Move?
What’s your next career move? You’ve been thinking about a career move for quite some time haven’t you? It’s that winsome thought that just keeps coming back to you… over and over. The persistent call that continues, ringing and ringing… until you answer it. Thoughts become things. You can turn your thoughts and passions into a new career and into a new business… if you take action.

Thoughts become things...

I’m Robert Hanley. I’m a Producer/Director/Editor/Entrepreneur and for my entire life I have been turning my thoughts, passions and desires into my profession. I started my first business when I was eleven years old and have been starting and running businesses ever since then. I know how to get something started and I know how to succeed. I can teach you to start and succeed as well. As you’ll find out, I have a strong passion for all things video and for helping people start their own video production companies. I specialize in putting people into the video production services businesses – Home Video Studio.

Home Video Studio specializes in video transfer, video production and post-production. If you fancy the idea of becoming a video Producer/Director/Editor then Home Video Studio could be for you. The video post-production business is booming all over the world. There is a worldwide explosion in the video content transfer and production business. It’s a GOLDMINE. It’s getting bigger and bigger. There’s a lot of money to be made. There is a lot of opportunity.

Alan Fon, Round Rock, Texas
Most of our Home Video Studio Owners are in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. That’s the age where you start wondering how much time is left…? You ask yourself this question: “Am I going to become more than I am”? That question is asked in many ways. Some people break away and do something more. Others, sadly in my opinion, stay at their jobs, keep doing the same old thing and end up retiring at 65 years of age having never really tested themselves, or achieved their dreams!

So you’ve got this passion. You’ve got this desire. What do you do?

Take action. You take action. Do something. No matter what age you are (and yes we sell to people in their 30’s and 70’s) you’ll never have more energy than you have right now. Most likely, you’ll never have more money than you have right now. And one more thing, you’ve got momentum. Even as you are reading this you are making mental calculations - tallying up your life inventory: energy, money, family, job, career, status, friends, goals, passions, dreams and goals. You are gauging when and if you can make a go of it. Can you? If you think you can’t, you are right. If you think you can, you are right.

Do you have what it takes? Should you move forward? You’ve got momentum right now and what you do with that momentum will determine the rest of your life! Momentum is a powerful thing. You’ll either take action or do nothing. I would not want to spend my prime years working for the other guy – working for the man – being just a number – working for corporate America.

What happens when you do nothing? You loose energy. You stagnate.  You age! And most likely, you lose the ability to start something new. You lose the ability to start a Home Video Studio. Part of you continues to think about starting something but each time that feeling comes around you are weaker and weaker. The momentum dies out. Eventually you are too old to make a play. It is a fact of life. It is also really sad. You could change your life and change your world in doing so.

But you’ve got to start. It does take guts to start. It takes courage to start any business. I truly believe that America is the land of opportunity and that there has never been a better time to start a business – any business. Home Video Studio is a GOLDMINE! But you have to have guts. You’ve got to have courage and you will have to take a risk to achieve your dreams.

Home Video Studio - The American Dream!
Is America the land of opportunity? Am I right on this? Is running a Home Video Studio a goldmine? Yes HVS is a goldmine. Yes I am right and yes the American Dream is not dead. You can do it if you take action and follow my plan. So what holds people back from moving forward? What is holding you back? Maybe nothing. Maybe something.

Fear is usually the culprit... mostly – fear of making a wrong decision – fear of not succeeding – fear of risking personal pride and certainly fear of financial failure. Fear can be a powerful game stopper. You get excited about a new opportunity and then you tell your friends. They tear down your idea. They tell you that you’re crazy to leave a good job and go out on your own. You’re crazy to come out of retirement. You’re crazy to follow your dream. Your family can say the same thing! Your wife or husband can stop you in your tracks with a few choice words. Fear begins to creep in. DON’T LET THAT HAPPEN AND DON’T LISTEN TO THEM!
I’m here to tell you that you’re not crazy. You are alive – maybe for the first time in your life! You want something. You want to achieve. You want to breathe and you want to come alive. I can help you tune out the negatives, control the fear and move forward to achieve your dream of studio ownership. How do how I do it? Keep reading. Oh… and a little fear is a good thing.

Momentum. How do you keep your positive energy and momentum and break through this firewall of negative energy? Here’s my suggestion and remember, I have been helping people start new careers for over fifteen years so I know what I am talking about.

Dan Weiniger, Westfield, NJ
Your Inner Voice. You’ve got have faith in yourself and in HVS and you’ve got to follow your inner voice. You have to always listen to your inner voice. Your inner voice always tells you the truth. You’ve got to find a way to listen to your inner voice and tune out the negativity. And then you just start. Go with your gut. From the moment you do, your vision will grow stronger and stronger. You will succeed as long as you stay true to that faith and vision.

SO YOU JUST START. THEN YOU SUCCEED.

As long as you follow my plan, I make it easy for you to achieve your dream of opening your own business. We make it very easy for you to start and succeed with Home Video Studio. Home Video Studio is the perfect business for the right person.

You don’t have to be a techy. You don’t have to be a salesperson. You don’t have to know business. You just have to have desire. You have to start. Just do it. Start.

Write a new chapter in your life.
Five Easy Steps. You can start part-time or full time. You can start now. Here are the steps to take to get started with your own Home Video Studio.

1.    CLICK THIS LINK and listen to my podcast: "HOW TO START AND RUN YOUR OWN HOME VIDEO STUDIO." This audio program has tons of great information on how you can get started with Home Video Studio. Many people find this audio program very inspirational! It changes lives. I suggest you listen now.

2.   If you haven’t done so already go to our website: www.homevideostudio.com.
3.   Call me at 1-866-714-1956 or 1-317-358-5932. Both of these numbers ring into my cell phone. I am always available to chat with you. I want to talk to you; however, I may be on the phone with someone else so if you should call and get my voicemail, make sure to leave a message. I will return your call ASAP.
4.   We’ll talk about you and your situation and about your dreams and aspirations. We’ll chat about your motivations and about starting a Home Video Studio. If we both feel it is a win-win, I’ll invite you to come see us. I’ll invite you to Show ‘N Tell Saturday.

5.   Show ‘N Tell Saturday weekends are a great time to get your feet wet and learn more about Home Video Studio. Here’s what happens at a Show ‘N Tell Saturday. It’s actually a weekend event. We start with dinner (our treat) on Friday evening. Usually we start at 7:00 pm at a very nice restaurant in Indianapolis. You will meet my wife Denise and me (of course!) plus other Show ‘N Tell attendees. This dinner is kind of a break-the-ice/get to know you type of thing. Plus… you’ll experience one of the great traditions of HVS – Eating! We always have great eating events at all of our trainings and shows, etc. It’s good to break bread with new potential owners.  The next morning (Saturday) we’ll start early, usually around 8:00 am and go to 4:00 or 5:00 pm depending on how many people attend. Space is limited at Show ‘N Tell because we want to spend a lot of one-on-one time with you.

Miguel Salas, Jacksonville, FL

Show ‘N Tell Weekends. So what will we cover at Show ‘N Tell? We’ll go over everything you know about HVS and everything you don’t. There is really a lot to this business. Now, by all means bring your spouse. Show ‘N Tell Saturday is a great day for spouses too. I guarantee they will enjoy the day and he or she will have a much better understanding of what you want to do.

Here’s what we cover at Show ‘N Tell Saturday.
We’ll go over the 27 Profit Centers in depth.
We’ll cover the 20 days of training.
Studio Equipment – which package is right for you?
      HVS Staff and Support.
      Fundamentals of Home Video Studio.
The Advertising and Marketing Plan – Key points.
      Studio Installation & Training Dates.
      Your One-on-One questions.
      The Home Video Studio Plan!
The basic principles that drive our business.
      Home-based and Studio Store options.
      HVS Brand licensing opportunities.
Ramp up times – how quickly can you be up and running?
How you can start part-time or full-time.

Show ‘N Tell Saturday is truly a day that changes lives. You will always remember your SNT date! Additionally, should you come on board at Show ‘N Tell, we’ll credit you for all of your travel costs including airfare for you and your spouse, hotel, car rental, meals, etc.

Sometimes I get this response from people I chat with on the phone or email:  “Oh… I will be in your area in such and such month… are you having one then”? Or they say the following when they hear the next date or dates for Show ‘N Tell: “Oh… we have a _______ to attend and the next weekend after that we are busy too.” Here’s what I say to this. Just make it happen. The people who succeed in life, make life work for them. They manipulate the environment to suit them, not the other way around. So if you want to start your own studio, you’ve got to be pro-active. You’ve got to start.

Take Action. Look… you have been thinking about doing something for years and for years. There will always be weekend events. The people who actually create a business and legacy for their families make the time to come to Indy. And others… don’t.
Chad Godfrey, Lee's Summit, MO

I say this because one… it is a fact and because I am reaching out to those of you who want to and will make a change in your life – those of you who have a vision for your future. You are the ones who will make your way to Indy and meet with us. You are the ones who will change your world for the better. You are the ones who will succeed beyond your wildest dreams.

Upcoming SNT dates. We have some upcoming Show ‘N Tell dates for you to meet with us: Saturday, March 5th, Saturday March 12th and Saturday March 19th. The March 5th date is our Advanced Training Show ‘N Tell. That is a popular one since we will have HVS Studio Owners from all over the United States in Indianapolis, Indiana for you to meet while you are here. We have one more spot open for the March 5th date and several open for March 12th and March 19th.  Call me and get your space reserved ASAP.
